This one is only funny in Vietnamese. I used a pun.

This is the translation

1. I've made some new friends these days and we got to meet each other...

2. At first time, we only talk about stuffs we both like such as: Comics, rock, movies.... (sfx: a pig without a leg, I like watching cheap movies)

3. After that, we chat online and some conversations lead us to business... (computer screen: Friend: So funny - Me: I don't see it funny, sfx: Lol)

4. So we need each other's mobile number to keep in touch... (Can I have your mobile number? I'll tell you when it's done...)

5. NO!!!!!

6. (Numbers) 9...8...8...7...8...6...8...8

So, what's so funny about this one?

At the panel number 5 you can see I said "NO!!" so loud. And it's the funny part because in Vietnamese, the word "Không" can be used all alone with a lot of meanings, depend on the situation. In this situation, my friend and the reader could have understood that I mean "NO!!!" but what I really meant was "Zero" (0) since "Không" is also the Vietnamese name for that number. It was a Vietnamese pun. And then in panel number 6 I kept saying my mobile number to him like you see.

"Zero" (0) is the common first number in every mobile number available in Vietnam. We can have numbers like "098xxxxxxxx" and with the Zip code, we can replace [0] with [+84] which is the zip code of Vietnam.

From left to right: Reed and Sue was drawn by Splendid River (you can find the sketches in my gallery), Johnny was done by Kal_clarie_el and Ben was from tta269 . The big one is a post card that collect the 4 pic.

We have some copies of these to give to our friends.

Acctive Expo - Vietnamese Comic Con 2008

Yep, last Sunday - Sep 21st, we - the Comictrio joined this Vietnamese Comic Con (mostly for Manga/Anime Otakus) with a Comic/Cartoon/Art Booth.

To prepare for this event, we drew and printed out some Comic/Cartoon charactor profile cards like this to sell there, hopefully one day Comic/Cartoon would be loved as well as Manga/Anime is.

Besides, we also do sketches right at our booth to get some cash too, and the number of sketches we made out there surprised us so much. Before the con began, we thought Cartoon/Comic wouldn't be loved enough to get the cards and sketches sold, but we were completely wrong.

The con started from 9 a.m and just after 1 hour, we sold up to half the number of the cards that we brought with us -> which was an amazing surprise to us, and in the afternoon, we made too many sketches that we couldn't even remember how many of them that we made, and we totally forgot to take some pictures of them.

And in the end of the con, we recognized that we had sold 19 of the 24 card that we brought, and that was a super success that we made there. Besides, the number of the sketches sold was enough for us to be proud cuz our booth was right beside a manga/anime art booth - which was always a super crowd all the time.

Lucky for us that we had some help from some of our friends on Accvietnam.vn like Godslayer, Peter Parker, my lil brother FunnyMeo and my darling Yunamibunny. Though the plan was changed a lil bit but we are really greatful for all your help, really, thank you so much guys, we did an awsome job out there.

This is the demo version (to show to the chief editor) of out comic series Dim and Mi - Wishing Story. Dim (the big brother) and Mi (the little sister) are two ordinary kids with kids' everyday life trouble. Until one day they found a magical pen that grant one wish everyday to whoever uses it.

We are currently working on issue #1, which explores more on the pen's origin.

Hi there, my name is kal_clarie_el, the third one. You can call me kal, but it's just my nick name, my real name translated into English is Faith River. Another nick name i use in the internet is MLR. Okay, whatever the name is, it only means me, Faith River.

You know, i'm a super crazy fan of Superman, the best comic hero ever. I've loved him since i was a child. That's why i made my nick name kal_clarie_el, so, people usually call me "kal".

This is my avatar, i made it with some mixture of American Dragon Jake Long style and Mr. "Cheek" Galloway style. However, my main style is a little bit reality. But with the comic strips i'm going to make, i will do some cartoon style, like the avatar above, it's funny, i love it too.
